I am a Chartered Clinical Psychologist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the British Psychological Society (BPS). I am an Associate Fellow of the BPS (AFBPsS).

I work in the NHS (part time) and independently. I have worked in the NHS since 2003 and specialise in Working Age Adult Mental Health. I provide interventions to people experiencing a range of complex psychological difficulties such as anxiety, depression, emotional and relational problems and trauma. Interventions include providing specialist psychological assessment and therapy to individuals, couples, families and groups. I also provide supervision, consultation and training to other professionals. I am particularly interested in training and working with staff teams to develop a shared psychological understanding or 'formulation' of individuals. I have published research in this area and presented this work at the Division of Clinical Psychology.

I am experienced in working with a range of psychological difficulties including:

  • Anxiety - generalised anxiety, panic, phobias, OCD, health anxiety
  • Depression and low mood (including perinatal and postnatal depression)
  • Grief, loss and bereavement
  • People who have experienced trauma/abuse (including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Dissociation)
  • Anger management problems
  • Low self esteem/self worth
  • Relationship difficulties and people who struggle with relationships
  • Self harm

I am trained in a variety of therapeutic approaches and models to help people experiencing a range of psychological difficulties, including;Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Video Interaction Guidance (advanced level accreditation).

I am committed to developing a safe, non-judgemental and compassionate therapeutic alliance with clients in which difficulties can be explored and understood through the development of a collaborative formulation. A formulation explores a person’s life and the personal meaning of events, difficulties and experiences that contribute towards current distress. I help clients to identify how and why their difficulties developed, how they get maintained and how they can manage or overcome their difficulties more effectively.
